Meridian Singers

Community Choir in Bluntisham, Cambridgeshire

Welcome to

Musical Director - Alison Summers. Accompanist - Olga Elbourn.

The Meridian Singers are a community choir based in Bluntisham. We rehearse in Bluntisham church hall on Wednesday evenings from 7.00-8.30 pm during school term. We perform in our home church of Bluntisham, but also all around the area, and we also enjoy performing with other choirs and musicians. There are no auditions, and all over 18s are welcome. Our membership is currently 40 strong, but we are always ready to welcome new singers.

Our repertoire is very eclectic. We like to sing arrangements of folk songs, rock songs and gospel songs; we enjoy music written for community choirs, and we love to explore some of the great corner stones of the choral repertoire. We sing in three parts, two parts and also in unison. In each concert there is usually a piece that has been arranged especially for us by our musical director. Our conductor Alison prepares us thoroughly for each concert so we donít feel out of our depth.

Rehearsals are light hearted but thorough. Alison is a professional musician who sings professionally as a soloist and in choirs, so she has been able to learn her trade from some very good conductors. As well as learning the songs, she also warms us up and informs her teaching of the pieces with brain games to help us improve our musicianship.
